The 8 C’s – your guide to sibling peace and contentment
1. Competition
Kids are constantly competing for your attention, love and approval. So give it to them. Praise is always important.
2. Comparison
Try not to compare your kids to each other, especially infront of them. Let each child be who they are and celebrate their differences.
3. Cooperation
Encouraged to cooperate instead of compete. Make getting ready for bed a race against time, not each other.
4. Count to 10
Give yourself a time out. Don’t get mad, get silly. If they’re arguing over a cookie, call them “Cookie Monsters” and chase them out of the kitchen with a roar!
5. Consequences
Got a battle going on over a stuffed frog? Take it away from both of them. They’ll realize it’s in their best interests to work together to get what they want.
6. Carve out some one-on-one time
Satisfy your individual child’s need for attention by spending some alone-time with them. Sometimes 10-15 minutes of your undivided attention is all it takes.
7. Clock the cranky
