Taking time out of your day for self-care is always important. From long work hours at home, to caring for your family, to adapting to new ways of living, the days can be long and caring for yourself might end up being the last thing on your list of things to do.

While it’s perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed during these times, we’re here to help! Here are a few ways to show yourself a little extra care each with limited time on your schedule.

If you have 2 minutes:

Turning your attention inwards can be so beneficial, especially if you feel some anxiety kicking in. Take 2 minutes to close your eyes, center yourself, and focus on breathing. You’d be surprised to see how good it feels to take that moment for yourself, even if it’s just for 2 minutes! You can also try brushing your hair, putting on comfortable clothing, or applying a bit of hand cream on your arms and legs for that fresh feeling.

If you have 5 minutes:

Video chat with a friend or family member! Sometimes all it takes is reaching out to someone to shift your mood and feel more positive. As social beings, we crave interactions so even a couple of minutes of chatting can uplift us in ways we never thought! Try making yourself a smoothie or tea, preparing a snack, or diffusing some essential oils around the house.

If you have 10 minutes:

Show your skin some love with a face mask! Use a refreshing sheet mask from a local pharmacy or create your own DIY mask from ingredients you have at home. Light a candle, write down some personal affirmations in a journal, water your plants, or tidy up your kitchen and bedroom to create a warm, inviting space.

If you have 15 minutes:

Go for a walk around the block! Breathing in fresh air is a great way to self-care, especially if it involves movement. If you have the time, walk around the block or set a destination for your stroll. Feel like staying in? Pick out your favourite polish and give yourself a mani or a pedi complete with your favourite playlist in the background.

If you have 30 minutes:

Letting your creativity run wild is a great way to show yourself some care! Invent a new recipe in the kitchen, have a dance party in the living room, pick up an instrument, sing your favourite song, or choose a yoga video to practice to. It can feel so therapeutic to let loose and get creative!

When it comes to a busy schedule, we know how easy it can be to forget about taking care of yourself. With these simple tips, we hope to give you the tools you need to show yourself that extra bit of care with the time that you have.

Happy self-caring!
