Movement Activities
- Toss a large, lightweight ball, like a beach ball, up a gentle grassy slope. When it rolls back towards you, show your toddler how to catch it. Then it’s her turn.
- Place a beanbag on your child's back while she's in a crawling position, then have her crawl around the room until the beanbag falls off. Her goal is to keep it on her back as long as possible.
- You can help your toddler build on her movement skills—and her social skills—by joining a playgroup, taking her to the park or having a little friend over to play. At this age toddlers are unlikely to play “with” each other, but they enjoy the company and can learn from one another.
