Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide for Toddlers

Young children have small appetites yet they need calories and nutrients for growth and development. By eating the right amount and type of food recommended in Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide, children can get the nutrients they need to grow and thrive. Serve small nutritious meals and snacks each day.

Candadian Food Guide

Do not restrict nutritious foods because of their fat content.  Nutritious higher fat foods such as 2% or whole milk can help children meet their energy and nutrient needs.  High fat foods (such as chips, cookies, pastries) that are low in vitamins and minerals should be limited as they fill children up and can decrease their intake of more nutritious foods.
