Tips for Common Feeding Issues

Baby Colic

Colicky babies may have long periods of inconsolable crying (often at the same time of day), fussiness, severe gas pains and problems with sleep. Colic is generally defined by the rule of 3: your baby cries uncontrollably at least 3 hours a day, 3 days a week, for 3 weeks or more.

Tips

  • Wrap your baby securely in a blanket or body carrier, then hold her close and rock her gently.
  • Walk with her.
  • Put her in her car seat and take her for a drive or take her for a walk in a stroller.
  • Give her a bottle or nurse her. Don't let her go hungry for long periods of time.
  • Try a pacifier.
  • Put on a soothing CD.

Colic may be caused by a cow's milk protein allergy. Talk to your baby's doctor about Nutramigen® A+®, a hypoallergenic formula for the dietary management of babies with colic due to cow's milk protein allergy.
